Why Use Poshmark Automation Tools?
Considering using an automation tool or bot to help you with your Poshmark closet? Not sure if it's worth it? Well, here are some pros and cons to help your decision.
Pro: Time Savings
All that clicking is crazy-making! Between sharing your closet, sharing other users' closet items, following your followers, finding new people to follow, sharing items in your brand categories, and on and on...Ugh! It just takes so much time. Don't get me wrong, I love the Poshmark platform. But sometimes you just need a shortcut to do what you really want to do (share and follow) without all the mind-numbing repetition.
The whole reason we created Closet Betty was to help reduce the time spent on doing all this for our own sanity. It made a huge difference! Suddenly, everything was so much easier. More time to spend with family. More time to list items. More time to breathe easy!
Con: You Have To Manage The Bot
Instead of handling all the clicking yourself, you instead need to pay attention to what the bot you choose to use is doing. Some of the bots on the market are not very transparent about what they're doing. Either that or their progress indicators are just hard to follow. In this case, you need to regularly check the items the bot actually shared, how many people it actually followed, how fast it performed the actions (faster than a human?). Sometimes the bots don't actually behave the way you expect.
All of this is pretty easily handled by using a bot that shows you the progress it's making right on the screen in front of you by taking over and driving your browser for you, letting you watch it in action at a reasonable pace. We made Closet Betty to do exactly that. No guesswork required.
Pro: Increased Platform Engagement
Poshmark takes your platform engagement (how often you share, follow, and perform other actions on the Poshmark website or app) into account when deciding what priority to give your closet items in the feeds of other poshers. No one knows exactly how Poshmark tunes their algorithms to prioritize one closet over another. But it's historically been thought that more engagement on the platform means more potential sales.
If you're doing all the sharing and following manually, you're going to get tired of it at some point. So the people who have infinite patience for clicking have an advantage in being more engaged on the platform. But a bot can level the playing field by being an extension of you, doing what you would do if you had the patience for all that clicking.
Con: You Can Overdo It
You have to use the right bot, because it's too easy to overdo it with the wrong one. So choose and use your bot wisely. A good bot will perform actions like a human and won't go nuts on the platform doing everything at high speed. A moderately paced bot will make it easier for you to use it wisely. How do you use a bot wisely? Well, just don't try and push it to its upper limits of sharing and following. You want it to be an extension of you, like a tool that lets you do what you would otherwise do anyway if you had the time, not a crazed robot spamming the platform.
We built Closet Betty to perform at human speeds right in your regular browser and to pause regularly (you know, like a human would) while also keeping track of how often she runs so she can notify you if you're reaching the limit of regular person usage. We think that's pretty easy to use wisely.
Pro: Potential For Increased Sales
This one's kind of obvious. :) Poshmark automation lets you share more, follow more, return share (share back) more, return follow (follow back) more, and so on. If you have in-demand items in your closet with decent photos and reasonable pricing, it stands to reason you may have increased sales. Hooray!
Con: Managing More Orders
When it comes to increased sales, the old saying "be careful what you wish for" comes to mind. With more orders comes more packaging, and more running to the post office, and more handling of customer returns, more restocking the closet with new items as old ones are sold, and the list goes on. It's actually a lot of work.
So there you have it. A few pros and cons of using automation or bots with your Poshmark closet. We hope this helps!
Happy Poshing!
