How to Style Someone on Poshmark
Styling someone on Poshmark can be initiated by seller or buyer, you can passively wait to be invited by Poshmark to be a ‘stylist’ or you can actively begin styling potential buyers using the ways we discuss in this post!
First, styling is done for someone – in short it is creating a bundle of items that go together as an outfit to help a potential buyer have a certain look or style. (For more on bundles go here ”How to Bundle on Poshmark”). You can use their Style Card to find out their preferred sizes and brands. This will help you identify what items in your closet they might be interested in. Before we got any further:
What is a Style Card and how do I find it?
A Style Card is where you can see the size and brand preferences of a Poshmark member, if they saved them as preferences in their closet. You can only get access to the Style Card in a bundle you have created for a potential buyer, on the bundle drop down menu, click “View Style Card.”
Now that you know about the Style Card on Poshmark, how do you get started styling potential sellers if you are not a Poshmark stylist?
(Just a few words on becoming a Poshmark stylist, we have found that there doesn’t seem to be any consistent method to being asked to become a Poshmark stylist by corporate – there are many high performing Posh Ambassadors with great closets/brands that have never been asked by Poshmark to participate in the program, likewise there are a number of new small closets that have been asked to participate. Some Posh Ambassadors have opted out of being an official Posh stylist because the requests are few and far between, or they receive requests forwarded by Poshmark for people whose size and brand preferences do not match their closet. This is why we wrote this article on how to style someone without passively waiting for the official Poshmark stylist role).
Get Started
The easiest way to start is select several items from your closet that would go together for a near complete outfit for several different styles; seasonal, work wear, casual weekend, trending now and surprise me (when potential buyers request styling from Poshmark, they chose from these categories - at the time of this post seasonal was ‘warm weather essentials’). You may also want a category that you create like date night or day at the beach, you don’t have to be limited by the categories Poshmark provides. Once you have your styling bundle items and categories identified, work out the pricing of the bundle. For example, how much of a discount will you offer if they want the entire the bundle or maybe just two of the pieces?
Pick which bundle category you would like to work toward selling first (like date night) and find those listings in your closets, next look at who the likers are for each item. If you see the same liker on more than one item, share each item directly to that liker until all the items in your styled bundle are in their bundle and then send them an offer! If you want to send them a message about why you are doing that it may help them understand why suddenly you created and bundle and put a bunch of items in there. Keep doing this for your different likers in that bundle category and then move on to your next category.
If you finish working through all of your likers and bundles and would like to scout for more potential buyers, you can go to a brand page that will match your styling bundles, find items that would work with your listings and direct share your items to the likers of that brand item. We would recommend you message them to tell them what you are doing, especially considering they were not a liker of your closet items to begin with. Remember that messaging someone through a bundle is not private. (For more on this go here “How to Message Someone on Poshmark”).
Happy Styling!!
